Madcap is the amusingly eccentric coffee brand, whose mission is to make elevated coffee experiences accessible to everyone. Behind every great cup of coffee is a commitment to quality, innovation and process – the bolt of inspiration to fuel the creative problem-solving our world needs.
The Opportunity
Our journey with Madcap started with a close-knit partnership that included a full-scale social media takeover and a thoughtful design strategy. Madcap trusted Handcar to enhance their organic engagement, orchestrate exciting giveaways, and increase their daily posting frequency to 1-3 times a day. Beyond these goals, the heart of our collaboration was fueled by the need for captivating content creation, with a particular focus on outstanding design and photography.

The Solution
Handcar embarked on its journey by collaborating closely with the Madcap team to craft a purposeful content strategy that seamlessly aligned with upcoming product launches and synchronized with the web launch and email/SMS objectives. Our initial efforts involved curating a comprehensive asset library and accelerating content production from the very beginning. This included the creation of design assets and photography designed to exude warmth, foster a sense of invitation, and center on community-building initiatives.
Continuously, Handcar cultivated innovative and daring concepts that encouraged increased saves and shares across Madcap's social media platforms. Our introduction of "Brew Guides," alongside more informative content and the use of clever CTAs, all played pivotal roles in elevating audience engagement. We implemented platform-specific content strategies, (think witty tweets fired from our thumbs multiple times throughout the day, and aesthetic Reels content tapping into trends on Instagram) that not only sustained our previous year-over-year growth but propelled it even further.
Not only did we lead the charge on Madcap’s social media, but we served as their entire out-of-house design team. Handcar provided Madcap product and production design support, café menu designs, packaging inserts, web and email templates, animation, photo and video editing, and more as arose. We photographed every coffee release and merch drop, fueled by Madcap coffee.
The Result
Since the Handcar takeover, Madcap's social media engagement grew by an impressive 60%, accompanied by a solid 5% growth in the total audience. Adding Reels to the mix for the account was a massive jolt (hello lightning bolt) to the algorithm and rewarded Madcap with double-digit YoY growth on Instagram.
Our design support facilitated non-stop social assets, countless email designs, and numerous gorgeous coffee launches, providing unequivocal value for the brand. Having an entire creative agency like Handcar at their disposal meant that the Madcap team was free to move forward on more giveaways, tap into more consumer moments, and launch more products on social media with ease.
